The Bulletin of Advocacy (“Bulletin advokacie”) of the Czech Bar Association published an article by Prof. Alexander J. Bělohlávek and JUDr. Jan Šamlot from our law firm on ” Determination and Application of Professional Rules Applicable in Advocacy Matters With International Dimension and Abroad and Risks for Lawyers In Cross-Borders Client´s Issues”.

Despite the initial principle of territoriality, the legal services are becoming more and more an crossborder, international and even multinational phenomenon. However, lawyers are often unaware of the professional and ethical rules applicable to them in cross-border situations and the risks and sanctions they face if they breach them. Similarly, they often erroneously assess the authorisation to provide services in relation to cross-border matters with regard to their various legal and factual aspects.
